Sumatra Surfing - Right on the break at Karang Nyimbor

The Family Losmen is perfectly located for surfing Sumatra. Its right in the middle of the surf-rich Southern Sumatran Coast, half an hour South of Krui and 5-6 hours drive from the airport at Bandar Lampung. This small, family-operated Losmen offers excellent meals, quiet rooms and western-style toilets, all you need for a sumatra surfing mission base. The main break is right in front, plus numerous other surf breaks within an hr -1 1/2 hr's drive up and down the Coast. This beautiful stretch of Coast also offers snorkeling, delightful beaches and National Parks. Please note this part of Indonesia is not yet accustomed to tourism and some facilities such as money changing are not available, and there are no surf shops.

Rates and other costs.

As at January 2012, the rate per person per night, all meals included, is Rp 170,000 per day per person. A large cold Bintang is Rp27,000, large water Rp5,000, soft drink Rp6,000, toilet paper Rp5,000. NOTE: rates are subject to change. ALSO NOTE: there are NO ATMS or Money changing facilities close to Karang Nyimbor or KRUI. You will need to carry sufficient cash for all your requirements.

How to get to Family Losmen

From Jakarta by plane to Bandar Lampung (capital of S Sumatra) is a 3/4 hour flight. From Bandar Lampung to the Krui area is around 6 hours in a hire car - by far the best option. Local busses might take 9 uncomfortable hours or more. Family Losmen can arrange a modern aircon vehicle to pick you up at the Bandar Lampung airport -enjoy the trip through the lush Southern Sumatran countryside. Cost per car is Rp 900,000 for up to 5 persons. Surfers bring your own soft racks for your boards.
